This is what I was greeted with on my very first safari to the Greater Rann of Kutch. A haze morning with a Steppe Eagle sitting against the light. I some love the composition for the simplicity it carries. This image has been my wallpaper on my laptop and I am loving it.

Steppe Eagles normally breed in Easter Romania to Souther Russia and the steppes of Mongolia. Steppes eagles favour open dry habitats, such as desert, semi-desert, steppes, or savannah. They migrate in large numbers in the Greater Rann of Kutch. We had also seen them near Bhowali village near Nainital, Uttarakhand (Nov 2015, Jan 2017). Below is one more ground level picture of the eagle.
